E Komo Mai! Welcome to this weblog that is part of the services of the internet radio program, The Peace Place aired on University Radio Hilo!
During our time of offering The Peace Place program, we've hosted Howard Shapiro and then Howard and Gregg Perry to our program to share their efforts through music and peace in educating all of us about the drug called "ice"...and addictions of any kind, for that matter. You can listen to our archived conversation by clicking onto the main website page and then onto archives...We will also be replaying our interview thru the summer...check for scheduling updates. (thanks Brett)...
In our latest meeting in the studio, Howard and Gregg mentioned that they were planning a "We Are 'Ohana Day" in Hilo...and their plans will come to fruition June 5, at Hilo's Wailoa State Park from noon to5pm, free and open to the public. So, if you're in, around or able to find your way to Hilo, you're all invited to join the celebrations that will be recorded for a music video for one of the CD's popular songs "Your Heart Will Lead You Home". There will be entertainment, presentations by Hula Halau O Kou Lima Nani E and Lava Roots Dance and Drum and students of Kua O Ka La Public Charter School and Na 'Opio O Waimea and Ka'u Middle School. Bring your picnic lunch and if possible extra pupus to share.
Mayor Harry Kim has proclaimed June 5 "We Are 'Ohana (family) Day". Hope to see you folks there. The events of the day are sponsored by Performing and Fine Artists for World Peace and the North Hawai'i Drug-Free Coalition and with funding from Hawai'i County Resource Center, support from KHBC Radio, Creative Arts Hawai'i, Peck Tunes and Kumanu Music. A hui hou! Until soon! Aloha, a.s.
