Child Abuse Awareness/Prevention Month... Part 1 of 2

Aloha Mai Kakou! (Big alohas/loves to everyone!)

Chances are likely that someone you know (young or old) is or was abused physically, emotionally, sexually or neglected while a child.  Nationally, in 200l alone, "about l million cases reported to child protective services were confirmed as child abuse or neglect," according to Diane M. Yoakam RN, MSN, CEN www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/h1/sp/chil/child.jsp

Yoakam further states: "About 80% of the perpetrators of the child abuse are parents.  Another l0% of the perpetrators are relatives of the children and almost 2% were people serving as caregivers."

From the very beginnings of our broadcasts of The Peace Place weekly internet radio program, we've welcomed community members to our studio to share their information, solace, heartfulness about the scourge, local and global of domestic violence and child abuse.  http://radio.uhh.hawaii.edu/peaceplace/guests.htm)   (go to Part 2)
